NAIROBI, July 26 (Xinhua) — On Thursday, the Kenyan capital of Nairobi hosted the China (Anhui)-Kenya Economic and Trade Conference, an initiative aimed at enhancing trade relations between China and Kenya.

The conference drew a prominent delegation from Anhui Province in eastern China, alongside high-ranking Kenyan government officials and representatives from approximately 50 local businesses eager to forge partnerships with their Chinese counterparts.

Juma Mukhwana, principal secretary in Kenya’s Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, highlighted the numerous economic opportunities available to Chinese investors, emphasizing Kenya’s strategic position as a gateway to the East African Community and the broader African market.

Mukhwana further noted that 18 counties in Kenya have established industrial parks equipped with world-class facilities, enabling Chinese investors to transform raw materials into finished products for both domestic and international markets.

He remarked that the visit from the Chinese delegation signifies the strengthening relationship between the two nations and the significant potential for collaborative efforts that benefit both sides.

Shan Xiangqian, the vice-governor of Anhui Province, conveyed that the delegation traveled over 9,000 kilometers, driven by a commitment to fostering the China-Africa friendship.

He emphasized that Chinese investments will not only create job opportunities in Kenya but also facilitate technology transfer, thereby enhancing local industrial capacity.

Florence Benta Were, managing director of the Kenya Investment Authority, pointed out that Kenya has set up special economic zones designed to encourage investments from foreign entities.

Were asserted that the combination of Kenya’s rich resources and Anhui Province’s industrial expertise will generate substantial advantages for both nations.
