In a shocking turn of events, the Kenya African National Union (KANU) has confirmed that one of its junior officials, Cornelius Ronoh, was abducted on Monday evening in the Fedha area, Embakasi East, Nairobi. The political outfit revealed that Ronoh, a digital communications officer, was snatched outside a local barber shop he regularly visits near Nyayo Gate B.
“We received word this morning that Cornelius Ronoh, who serves our party as a digital communications officer, was brazenly abducted last night outside the barber shop he frequents in Fedha,” KANU’s Director of Communications, Nyainda Manasse, stated in an official communication.
KANU, led by Gideon Moi, believes that Ronoh’s vocal political commentary online may have made him a target. The party is now linking the abduction to a disturbing rise in kidnappings across the country, especially targeting young people active in political discourse.

“The surge of gang-style abductions of young individuals who use digital platforms to address public policy issues paints a bleak picture for the rule of law in this nation,” the party said in a statement, warning that this trend signals a worrying attempt to suppress free speech and silence dissent.
KANU has wasted no time, instructing its legal team to report the abduction to police authorities in Embakasi East. “We call on the authorities to produce Mr. Ronoh in a court of law if any charges have been brought against him,” Manasse added, urging the government to act swiftly and transparently.
This chilling incident comes amid growing concerns over kidnappings across the country. Only last month, an activist and two brothers were held captive for over a month after being abducted by unknown assailants in Kitengela. Human rights groups have repeatedly called on the government to take responsibility and ensure the safety of its citizens.
The abduction of Ronoh has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, with many now questioning whether freedom of speech is under siege in Kenya.
Latest reports indicated that Ronoh was released without charges.
