I’m Ready For Consequences of Speaking for the Agikuyu

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared that he will not back down from speaking out for the interests of the Gikuyu community and generally Mt Kenya region. Speaking at St Stephen’s Catholic parish in Kinangop, Nyandarua County where he attended a church service Sunday, Gachagua said he was ready to bear any consequences arising from his decision to speak for his people.

“I am guilty as charged. I have n defence. That I have no defence. It does not mean that if I love my people I have a problem with other people…If there is any punishment that can be meted out for someone loving his people, I am ready for that punishment,” Gachagua declared.

Gachagua said Mt. Kenya region got a fair share of the Cabinet despite being accused of letting down his guard and losing out on the recent nominations to the Cabinet.

Gachagua urged the 70 MPs from the Mt Kenya region to continue piling pressure for the implementation of the One-Man One Shilling revenue sharing formula he has been advocating for. He said his focus was on ensuring the region remains on top of his priorities and wanted its contribution to the Kenya Kwanza regime was rewarded even though he said “I have got everything I wanted” in the recent Cabinet nominations.
