In a significant breakthrough, a notorious robbery with violence syndicate has been dismantled following the arrest of two prime suspects, Harun Kariuki, 33, and Christine Nyakio Kinyua, 20. The suspects were apprehended by a specialized team of officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kaloleni and Mariakani. The pair, who have been on the run, are believed to be the masterminds behind a series of high-profile robberies that have terrorized the Mombasa and Mariakani regions in recent months.

Kariuki and Kinyua’s criminal activities came to the forefront following a violent robbery that occurred on July 18, 2024, which tragically resulted in a fatality. The suspects are also linked to a separate incident on July 24, 2024, involving the abduction and robbery of a victim. Adding to their list of alleged crimes, the duo is suspected of being involved in a shooting incident on July 17, 2024, further escalating their notoriety in the region.

Following an intensive investigation and a relentless pursuit, law enforcement officers successfully tracked down the suspects to their hideout in Samburu township. A subsequent search of the premises uncovered a substantial cache of stolen property, believed to be linked to the series of robberies. Among the items recovered were nine assorted mobile phones, three hard disks, a 24-inch Aucma TV, two generators, a laptop, a laminated motorcycle registration number plate (KMGB 786D), and a helmet with registration number KMFX 866Q.

The suspects are currently in custody, pending further legal processing. The recovered items have been secured as evidence, which will play a crucial role in the prosecution of the suspects.

In light of the arrests, the DCI has issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities. The agency emphasized that law enforcement agencies are fully committed to ensuring that such crimes are met with swift and decisive action. The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
