Makadara MP George Aladwa has called on youths to give President William Ruto time to implement changes after constituting his cabinet.

In a press statement, Aladwa said that the ongoing protests by the GenZs in different parts of the country had yielded some results, such as the disbandment of the cabinet, and now it was time they should give the President time to deliver.

“A month ago, the GenZs held protests across the country to ventilate their displeasure with the Kenya Kwanza administration. This led to the disbandment of the entire cabinet and shows he has demonstrated goodwill to listen and deliver,” added Aladwa.

He went on to say that the head of state’s appointment of 20 cabinet secretaries from across all regions of the country and from different professions will go a long way in assisting the President to implement the austerity measures the country wants.

Aladwa, who is also the ODM party Nairobi branch chairman, asked youths to refrain from further protests to force President Ruto out of office, adding that the country can’t solve the challenges it faces through daily street protests.

“Many people have lost livelihoods and lives, which, as a country, we should not allow to continue,” maintained Aladwa.

At the same time, Aladwa condemned the recent attack on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during his tour of the burnt Toi market in Kibra, Nairobi.

“Governor Sakaja, alongside other government officials, had gone to support traders whose stalls had been ravaged by fire. His presence was a gesture of solidarity with the affected business community and showed true leadership and empathy,” Aladwa’s statement read in part.

He continued to say that it was regrettable that Sakaja’s visit was met with violence as a group of rowdy youths pelted him and his entourage with stones.

Aladwa described the act as reckless, saying it not only endangered the lives of many people at the scene but also damaged property and threatened peace.

He called for the strengthening of security for elected leaders from any form of hooliganism and violence.

Aladwa also urged the security agencies in the city to arrest and begin the process of prosecuting the culprits involved in stoning Sakaja.
