In a stunning incident that highlights the growing issue of drug trafficking among youth, two high school students were apprehended with a substantial quantity of cannabis. The students, aged 17 and 16, were traveling on a Guardian Angel bus, registration number KCW 073X, from Busia to Nairobi when their illicit cargo was uncovered.
Acting on a tip-off, a vigilant multi-agency team at the Suo roadblock intercepted the bus. A thorough search revealed five bales of cannabis, weighing a total of 23 kilograms, hidden in the students’ bags. The street value of the seized cannabis is estimated at Shs690,000.
The young suspects, both from local high schools, were immediately taken into custody and escorted to the Busia police station. They are currently being processed and will face court proceedings.
