Pastor Ordering Women to Strip Naked Before Prayer

By COLLINS WANZALLAH, THE DISPATCH DIGITAL
Police in Tigania West have uncovered a disturbing case linking a recent arson attack on the East African Pentecostal Churches of Kenya, Kianjai branch, to widespread community anger over alleged heinous acts of indecency by Pastor Daniel Mururu. The investigation, detailed in a police occurrence book (OB) number 21/26/08/2024, reveals a pattern of behavior that has shocked the local community and drawn the attention of law enforcement.
According to the report, Pastor Mururu, along with church elders and ushers, was accused of orchestrating acts that included ordering women and girls to strip naked, shave their pubic hair, and engage in sexual activities within the church premises. These acts, initially mistaken for a land dispute-related incident, were later confirmed to stem from community outrage against the church’s practices.
The police report, dated September 2, 2024, and reported at 1826hrs, states that preliminary investigations have ruled out land disputes as the motive behind the arson. Instead, it points directly to the community’s reaction to the pastor’s alleged orders, which were enforced by church officials under the guise of religious necessity.
Witness statements, numbering over 23, paint a grim picture of the church’s inner workings. Among these, a particularly distressing account came from a 17-year-old student from Kamitongu Secondary School, who alleges she was defiled by the pastor, resulting in her current five-month pregnancy. This young victim’s testimony is one of many, with women ranging in age from 17 to 70, claiming to have been subjected to various forms of sexual assault, including breast sucking, pubic hair shaving, and invasive acts by church elders.
Further investigation by the DCI has revealed that Pastor Mururu and his associates might be operating what could be described as a cult. The church leadership allegedly used fear tactics, warning followers of dire consequences like sickness or barrenness should they disobey the pastor’s commands or question his prophecies. This manipulation was intended to maintain control over the congregation, compelling them into acts they believed would protect them from divine wrath.
The community’s response, culminating in the arson attack, underscores a deep-seated anger and frustration over the lack of immediate action against these alleged crimes. Local residents, who initially supported the church, felt betrayed and compelled to take drastic measures when their pleas for justice were seemingly ignored.
As the investigation continues, the police are working to gather more evidence and statements to build a case against Pastor Mururu and his accomplices. The community, meanwhile, is left grappling with the aftermath of these revelations, seeking healing and justice for the victims of what has been described as a systematic abuse of power under the cloak of religion.
This case not only highlights the need for stringent oversight of religious institutions but also underscores the importance of community vigilance and the courage to speak out against abuse, no matter where it originates. The Tigania West incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential for manipulation and harm within communities where trust in religious leaders is deeply ingrained
