Nairobi, August 3, 2024 – Six individuals infamous for their involvement in land fraud have been arraigned before the Milimani Chief Magistrate Court. The suspects face a miscellaneous application for their continued detention to allow the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to finalize their probe into the suspects’ illegal dealings.

The suspects, arrested over the weekend by a multi-agency team, are accused of forging land documents and committing various land-related offences targeting both public and private properties across the country. Led by Mr. Wilhem Kimutai, Officer-in-Charge of the Land Fraud Investigations Unit at DCI Headquarters, detectives have been investigating numerous cases implicating the six individuals.

Benedict Mwangangi Ngala and Joel Kaluki Mwangangi were apprehended at Anpemu House on Ngara Road, while Sylvester Mwanzia Mwanthi and Erick Omondi Ojwang were nabbed during the delivery of suspicious title deeds to the first two suspects. Expanding their operation, detectives also arrested Vincent Boaz Owang at a Nairobi restaurant and his associate, Titus Wambua Kithuku, at NCBA Center on Ragati Road.

Searches conducted at the suspects’ business premises, residences, and vehicles yielded a trove of forged documents, including green cards, transfers of land, certificates of titles, surrenders, certificates of leases, letters of allotment, deed plans, correspondence letters, and registry index maps. Additionally, detectives recovered assorted flash discs, rubber stamps, stamp pads, mobile phones, printers, CPUs, and other items of interest.

The six suspects remain in custody, with a ruling on their continued detention scheduled for August 6, 2024, at noon before Chief Magistrate Hon. Bernard Ochoi.
