Ceremony was conducted at Mombasa Statehouse as President made his first visit to the Coast since the Gen Z protests started in June
President William Ruto this morning received the two newly appointed Deputy Inspector Generals of Police at the Mombasa State House. The two were sworn yesterday by Chief Justice Martha Koome in Nairobi and later travelled to meet the President who was on a tour of the Coast.
Speaking at the brief ceremony, Ruto pledged the government’s support for the Police in equipping and modernising it to increase its efficiency in discharging its duties. He implored the Police to conduct its activities with professionalism and integrity.
The two new DIGs, Eliud Lagat (Kenya Police Service) and Gilbert Masengeli (Administration Police Service) were sworn in in the presence of acting IG Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Mohammed Ibrahim Amin.
