Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko announced a minor reshuffle within his executive team yesterday as he prepares to fill the vacant position left by Christopher Rusana, the recently elected Migori County Assembly Speaker, who previously served as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water and Energy.

In the reshuffle, Mercy Sau Mwakio Okwanyo, formerly the CECM for Public Service Management, Governance, and Devolution, has been reassigned to Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development.

Former Uriri MP Eng. John Owuor Kobado, who was the CECM for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, has been transferred to Public Service Management and Devolution.

Caleb Oduor Opondi, a former unionist who served as the CECM for Environment, Natural Resources, Climate Change, and Disaster Management, has been moved to the Health Services docket.

Julius Awuor Nyerere, the outgoing CECM for Health Services, has been reassigned to Environment, Natural Resources, Climate Change, and Disaster Management.

Several Chief Officers were also affected by the changes:

  • Roselyn Atieno Otieno was moved from Roads and Transport to Education, Youth, and Sports.
  • Prof. Rose Aoko Odhiambo Ogwang’ was transferred from Education, Youth, and Sports to Gender, Inclusivity, Culture, and Social Services.
  • Joh Michael Midwa was reassigned from Agriculture to Governance and Administration.
  • Robi Rhoda Nchagwa was moved from Governance and Administration to Water and Energy.

Education CECM Rahab Robi, who was appointed last week to the ODM Party’s National Executive as Secretary for Publicity and Information, was not affected by the reshuffle. However, her appointment to the ODM post may lead to constitutional complications, as it could require her to resign from her CECM position or face possible prosecution.
