Prof. Kithure Kindiki – Nominee for Interior Cabinet Secretary
Prof. Kithure Kindiki was the first nominee to be vetted. He committed to addressing gaps in law and order during peaceful protests, ensuring that Kenyans can enjoy their freedoms while maintaining public order. Kindiki mentioned his efforts in streamlining passport issuance, reducing the waiting period significantly, and combating corruption within the system.
Dr. Deborah Mlong’o Barasa – Nominee for Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health
Next, Dr. Deborah Mlong’o Barasa emphasized the need for Universal Health Coverage (UHC). She pointed out weaknesses in primary care networks and proposed a consultative approach to identify and address gaps in the healthcare system. Dr. Barasa suggested introducing a digital platform to reduce human interaction and combat corruption, while expressing the need for a Health Service Commission similar to the Teachers Service Commission.
Hon. Alice Wahome – Nominee for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development
Alice Wahome, appearing before the committee for a different docket than two years ago, highlighted the need for legal reforms to protect land records and combat land cartels. She emphasized the importance of reviewing current land laws to address issues of land theft and fraud.
Mr. Julius Migos Ogamba – Nominee for Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education
Mr. Julius Migos Ogamba, vetted for the Ministry of Education, discussed his vision for improving the education sector. He outlined his qualifications and plans for addressing key issues within the ministry.
Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya – Nominee for Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Defence
The final nominee of the day, Hon. Roselinda Soipan Tuya, faced the panel for the second time in two years, this time for the Ministry of Defence. She presented her credentials and plans for the ministry, emphasizing her commitment to serving the Kenyan public.
