Gilgil Residents Attacked by Hired Goons Amid Protests Over CDF Mismanagement

Gilgil residents were reportedly attacked by hired goons during a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday as they sought answers regarding the management of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The protesters, who had informed the police about the march in advance, were forcibly locked inside the Gilgil CDF offices before being assaulted by the goons, who were allegedly brought in from Naivasha.
The protests were sparked by a series of audit reports released by the Auditor General covering the years 2019 to 2022. These reports raised serious concerns about the management of the CDF in the area. The conflict has intensified as residents demand transparency and accountability from their elected representative.
Area MP Martha Wangari is at the center of the controversy, with allegations that she is trying to avoid accountability for the issues highlighted in the audit reports. In a bid to suppress dissent and silence those seeking the truth, Wangari has reportedly resorted to employing goons to intimidate and attack the residents.
The incident has raised concerns about the lengths to which some leaders will go to avoid scrutiny, with calls for an independent investigation into the matter.
