Gen Z Plan to Form Political Party to Counter Ruto, Raila

By THEDISPATCH REPORTER

The revolutionary Gen Z youth will soon form a political party onw which to counter the new union of William Ruito and Raila Odinga at the next general elections. This development follows what the youth said was disappointment following what they said was Raila’s “betrayal” for joining the Ruto government, when they had expectations he would stand for justice and see true reform being initiated and executed by th3e government to eliminate tribalism, corruption and inefficiency.

In an online discussion on Space X, enraged Gen Z youth agreed it was time to form a political party to fight for their interests and  confront both Ruto and Raila who have now teamed up in what Ruto said was a “broad-based” government comprising of ODM’s top party leadership. They claimed the new development was intended to stop reforms they were agitating for and prop the Ruto regime which had failed the country.

According to the youth, the envisioned party party will field candidates in every constituency and county to recover the revolution that has been hijacked and aborted.

But as they planned for the next elections, they claimed the government was deliberately disenfranchising them by not giving them IDs, instead providing a Maisha card, which they were not sure could be legally recognised and used to register for elections and vote.

The youth also expressed disappointment with Raila for joning the government, which they accused of killing them mercilessly

They also noted that the moves by Raila and Ruto had divided the movement as Raila would now use his supporters to confront the Gen Z and stop them from pressurizing the government to pursue reform.

“We must think of a way to bring everybody into this movement,” one discussant said. “We look defeated because Ruto has brought in the Opposition.”

Most of the youth that spoke ex[pressed their disappointment with Raila,. who they said was only looking after his own interests. “The moment they get shares, the moment they get anything they want, they go silent. They wanted seats on the government so they can’t speak now because they got what they wanted.”

Many youth also complained that they had been abandoned and nobody cared about them after Raila expressed his support for the Ruto government. They also complained that the government only hired people who had performed poorly at school into the police because it was easier to command them to kill protestors.

But they appeared angered most by Raila, who they accuse of taking advantage of the achievements of their movement to negotiate seats for his allies and get a commitment that he would be funded to the end of his campaign for the AU Chairman’s seat. Raila’s campaign had been threatened by the mergence of Tanzania’s January Makemba but it was unclear where the Tanzanian’s campaign was headed after President Samia Suluhu Hssan fired him from her Cabinet.
