By THE DISPATCH DIGITAL REPORTER

In a dramatic turn of events, Collins Kibet Toroitich Moi, the grandson of the late President Daniel Arap Moi, was arrested in Ongata Rongai after evading authorities for over seven months. The arrest stemmed from contempt of court charges related to his failure to provide child support for his two children with Gladys Jeruto Tagi.

Collins had been on the run since defying multiple court orders that mandated him to support his children. Tagi, the mother of the two, took legal action against him, leading to the court’s ruling in her favor. Despite the ruling, Collins reportedly neglected his obligations, leading to escalating tensions between the two parties.

Authorities intensified their search for Collins after he consistently failed to comply with court directives, culminating in his apprehension in Ongata Rongai. He now faces legal consequences not only for contempt of court but also for evading arrest for an extended period.

The high-profile nature of the case has drawn public attention, especially given Collins’ lineage as a member of one of Kenya’s most prominent political families. His legal troubles have highlighted the ongoing child support issue that continues to affect numerous Kenyan families, regardless of social status.
