In a significant ruling by a JKIA court, two foreign nationals, Ilo Ebuka Titus and Kanu Arinze, have been fined Ksh 30 million each for trafficking narcotic drugs. Failure to pay the hefty fines will see both serve 12-month prison sentences.
The duo’s arrest took place on March 13, 2024, following an intelligence-led operation by detectives from the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit and Anti-Narcotics Unit. They were apprehended in Nyamakima and subsequently led officers to their residences in Umoja and Sunton. Upon searching their homes, authorities found 39.04 grams of heroin and 25.71 grams of cannabis.
The convicts pled guilty to the charges and were handed their sentences accordingly. The court further ordered that after completing their sentence or paying the fines, the two will be deported back to their country of origin. Additionally, it directed the destruction of the seized narcotics.
