Masengeli Coast

By THE DISPATCH DIGITAL REPORTER

Acting Inspector General (Ag. IG) Mr. Gilbert Masengeli appeared untroubled by orders from the High Court to appear before it, as he continued his tour of the Coast region on Friday. Accompanied by top police officers, including Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Elijah Lagat and Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin, Mr. Masengeli pressed on with his duties despite the court summons.

High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi had ordered the Ag. IG to appear before the court to explain the whereabouts of three individuals who were abducted and forcefully arrested by police during recent protests led by Azimio supporters in Kitengela and other areas.

On 6th September 2024, the Ag. IG held a joint meeting with Police Commanders from the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at the Regional Police Headquarters in Mombasa.

Mr. Masengeli, alongside DIG KPS Mr. Eliud Lagat and DCI Director Mr. Mohamed Amin, praised the officers for their dedication to duty. He encouraged teamwork and assured them of his support as they continue to address security challenges in the Coast region. DIG Lagat emphasised the importance of service delivery, urging the commanders to instil the same virtues in officers at station level. The DCI Director also thanked the officers for their collaborative efforts, particularly in the fight against drug abuse.
