Kevin Kangethe has been denied bail by a court in the United States of America (USA) after pleading not guilty to a charge of murder.
Kangethe was extradited to the USA from Nairobi on 1 September 2024, following a successful process by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson M. Ingonga, OGW.
He was arraigned before the Suffolk Superior Court in Pemberton Square, Boston, on 3 September 2024, where he denied the charge of murdering Margaret Mbitu. The court ruled that he would be held without bail, without prejudice.
The prosecution is being led by Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Mark Lee.
The court also heard that the suspect and the deceased were in a romantic relationship that had been troubled by reports of domestic violence.
A pre-trial date has been set for 5 November 2024, at 2 pm before the Homicide Section.
