Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and Roots Party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah recently held talks in Kisumu, focusing on the development and unity of Western Kenya. The meeting saw Nyong’o commend Wajackoyah for his leadership and the growing popularity of the Roots Party in the Western and Nyanza regions.

Nyong’o expressed his support for Wajackoyah, noting that the Roots Party, alongside the ODM party led by Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, should work together to enhance the development and unity of their communities. “Your party and ODM are our parties, and we need them to collaborate for the betterment and togetherness of our people,” Nyong’o stated.

In response, Wajackoyah urged Governor Nyong’o to leverage his extensive political experience and connections to benefit the people of Western and Nyanza. He highlighted the strong historical ties among the Luhyas, Luos, Kisiis, and Kurias, emphasizing the importance of maintaining harmonious relations across these communities.

Wajackoyah also shared his excitement about the increasing support he observed on his way to Kisumu, noting that many Tuktuk operators had decorated their vehicles with his image. He reiterated that the Roots Party is a national movement and announced plans to organize major rallies in Kisumu City and Kakamega Town, with more to follow across the region.
