Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat wrapped up his three-day tour of police stations in Western and Nyanza regions with a final visit to Kisumu. Lagat’s tour, which aimed to assess and motivate police personnel, included stops at Kondele Police Station and the Nyanza Regional Police Headquarters on Friday.

During his visit, Lagat addressed the officers, emphasizing the importance of serving the public with professionalism, responsibility, and legal adherence. He praised their dedication and urged them to adopt modern policing practices to tackle security challenges effectively.

Addressing the issue of mental wellness, Lagat acknowledged the mental health struggles faced by police officers and encouraged them to seek support through the NPS Mental Wellness Departments or from trusted individuals.

The visit saw the presence of key regional police officials, including Nyanza Regional Police Commander Patrick Tito, Nyanza Regional Criminal Investigations Officer George Kisaka, Kisumu County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro, and other senior staff members such as Dolly Badia, Director of Logistics at Kenya Police Service Peter Ndung’u, and National Police Service spokesperson Dr. Resila Onyango.

Earlier in the tour, Lagat made impromptu visits to Cheptulu and Mbale police stations in Vihiga County, where he discussed regional security concerns with local officers. Western Regional Police Commander Kiprono Langat and County Police Commander Peter Kattam, along with County Criminal Investigations Officer Jackson Muriuki, were present. Langat reported that livestock and motor vehicle theft issues were under control, but efforts against drug abuse continued.

Before concluding his tour, Lagat made an unplanned stop in Kapkangani under the Kapsabet Patrol Base to engage with traffic officers. He emphasized the need for integrity, accountability, and dignified service, urging them to avoid corruption and uphold their duties with honor.
