In a dramatic cross-border rescue operation, a team of DCI Detectives and General Duty officers from Endebess Sub-county successfully arrested a 27-year-old man and rescued a five-year-old child believed to have been abducted and taken to Uganda. Hosea Kiptoo Satia, a resident of Kolongei area in Matumbei location, allegedly abducted the minor on 23/07/2024.
Satia is reported to have transported the child to the Kapnandi area in Uganda, where he left the minor in the care of an elderly woman named Celestine Koronyeny. Satia then demanded a ransom of Ksh 100,000 for the child’s release.
Following days of intensive investigations, detectives tracked down Satia to his hideout. The suspect was apprehended and led the officers to Uganda, where they rescued the child and arrested Koronyeny as the second suspect. Working closely with a children’s officer, the rescued minor was safely returned to his parents.
The suspects have been processed and arraigned, with both released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail. Authorities continue to stress the importance of vigilance and community cooperation in preventing and addressing such heinous crimes.
