A bhang haul with street value of Ksh16 million was netted by law enforcement officers in the Fisheries area of Bamnburi in Mombasa. The haul was being trafficked by three women and a man, all of whom were taken into custody.
The suspects arrested were Doris Achieng, 46, Brenda Achieng, 20, Rhoda Vonza, 47, and David Omondi, 26.

The operation that led to the capture was planned and executed by anti narcotics unit (ANU) detectives from the DCI Coast Region and officers from the Bamburi Police Station. The officers responded to a tip-off from members of the public that the haul was hidden in a house.

The officers conducted a raid on the property and found eight green polythene gunny sacks, eight multi-coloured ‘Nigerian’ bags and a small white polythene bag all containing big khaki paper rolls of Cannabis sativa weighing 554.05kg.
Also impounded was a Toyota ISIS found parked outside the house and believed to have been procured by proceeds of crime. The suspects together with the recovered narcotics and the motor vehicle were taken to the Coast Regional Police Headquarters for detention and processing.
