Leading Indian Diagnostics Firm Opens Lab in Nairobi

Metropolis Star Lab Kenya, a subsidiary of India’s leading diagnostic service provider Metropolis Healthcare, has inaugurated its Regional Reference Laboratory in Nairobi.

In a press statement, it said the facility, spanning over 6,000 square feet, is equipped to process 35,000 to 40,000 samples per month and offers a wide range of diagnostic specialities, including haematology, microbiology, molecular biology, special chemistry, immunology, histology, and cytology.

The advanced diagnostic lab was officially opened by  Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Public Health & Professional Standards, Government of Kenya.

The event saw the presence of notable guests such as Rohit Vadhwana, Deputy High Commissioner at the High Commission of India; Walter Ongeti, CEO of KENAS;  Patricia Aruwa, Deputy Director of Industries, Business Environment, and Private Sector Development;  Florence Wangui, Board Member of the Kenya Investment Authority; and  Becky Kim, also a Board Member of the Kenya Investment Authority. MetropolisHealthcare’s senior management, including Avadhut Joshi, Chief Business Development Officer, and Iqbal Ahmed, AVP – Business & Operations (East Africa), were in attendance.

Surendran Chemmenkotil, CEO of Metropolis Healthcare , remarked, “The opening of our regional reference lab in Kenya is part of Metropolis Healthcare’s strategic expansion plan to extend high-quality diagnostic services internationally. With 21 centres across Kenya, the new lab in Nairobi will further enhance our ability to provide world-class diagnostic testing services.”
