11 Foreigners Arrested in Kitale in Crackdown on Illeal Migrants

By THE DISPATCH DIGITAL REPORTER

As authorities intensify their crackdown on undocumented foreign nationals entering Kenya for unverified business purposes, 11 male suspects have been apprehended in Kitale in an intelligence-led operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operation Support Unit (OSU).

The suspects, who were en route to Nairobi’s Eastleigh area from Uganda, comprised three Kenyan men and eight nationals from Somalia and Uganda, travelling in a Toyota Hiace with registration number KCF 860E.

Their arrest came after a failed attempt to evade capture, with the vehicle’s driver eventually pulling over and surrendering. The suspects are currently detained at Tarakwa Police Station.

The Anti-Terrorism Police Unit has now taken over the interrogation of the individuals to ascertain their intent in the country, amid speculation that some of the foreigners could be victims of human trafficking.
